Self-worth and confidence is more than being "skinny"

Self-worth and confidence is more than being "skinny"

“Looking back, I wish I could tell my younger self that her self-worth and confidence is more than being "skinny" and that there are healthier ways to overcome mental pain. It's about being strong, feeling well, and feeling comfortable in your own body, which is what I eventually found through exercise. It's about living your passions and being proud of your accomplishments.”

Genetics and Body Diversity

Genetics and Body Diversity

With empowerment through movement and education at the forefront of our strategy, Movemeant Foundation facilitates a body-positive curriculum for middle school girls. Week #2 in our 12-week curriculum is dedicated to teaching students about genetics and body diversity. Our 45-minute session revolves around how genetics play a huge role in our body size. We also explain how internal and external stimuli may change our bodies through time. With this knowledge, we hope to encourage our youth to accept their bodies as they are, freeing them to move with joy.

The Queen Reigns No More

The Queen Reigns No More

“I tried for so long to dim my light to make others comfortable and now I want to show girls that by becoming invisible we give away our power. By speaking up and showing up, especially when it’s uncomfortable or scary, we are instilling in ourselves that we have value to add, while empowering others to do the same. “

Sheding shirts, saving laundry, and being a BOSS. A story by Mandy Bynum

Sheding shirts, saving laundry, and being a BOSS. A story by Mandy Bynum

The Movemeant Foundation sits close to my heart. Everyday when I put my feet to the floor, it’s not my husband, my son, or anyone else I go to work for (well, you know.. I have bills to pay and stuff but you know what I mean). It’s that 12 year old girl who was working her butt off in school, staying late for dance company rehearsals followed by soccer practice, and then heading home to pound out homework. That girl dreamed of being a BOSS one day.
