Johanna Sylvester, Executive Director

Jo brings over 10 years experience in comprehensive event planning, fundraising and program management. Following her personal passion to help girls reach their full potential through physical activity, Jo is most well-known for cultivating the development of events, races and programs for Girls on the Run of the Bay Area.  Jo returns to the nonprofit sector driven to impact the lives of young woman through health and fitness and is committed to perpetuating Movemeant Foundation’s mission, vision and values with current and future partners. Jo lives in Bend, Oregon and is often spotted running the beautiful trails or exploring the area with her husband and two young kiddos. An active community member, Jo serves on the Board of Directors of Boys and Girls Clubs of Bend and is the Advisory Council Chair for Girls on the Run of Central Oregon. Jessi Greenlee, Director of Operations

After 2 years of volunteering and serving as a member of the Board of Directors at Movemeant Foundation, Jessi joins the team full-time as their Director of Operations, leading the organization’s growth and development strategy for fundraising. With a background in People Operations and Marketing, Jessi brings a wide array of skills and an enormous amount of passion and drive to the team. During her time in Human Resources, she redefined the department’s function, creating new systematic standards of efficiency and developing people programs that became critical factors in the company’s strategic growth and development. Pairing her passion for employee engagement with a desire to drive social good, Jessi championed a company-wide corporate social responsibility program which increased engagement as well as fueled a new lead generating source. Using her knowledge and expertise, she developed her own “Building Social Good Into Your Business Strategy” training course to help businesses and independent contractors align social impact with business initiatives. Today she uses these skills to help Movemeant partners structure innovative and impactful partnerships to advance their specific business goals and priorities.

Jenny Gaither, Founder         

Jenny is one of only a handful of Master SoulCycle instructors and has been teaching at SoulCycle for over eight years between SF and NYC. As the Founder of Movemeant Foundation and We Dare to Bare, Jenny has dedicated over 15 years of her life to serving fitness communities around the world. As a former professional dancer, she studied with world-renowned dance choreographers including Emmy-award nominated Sonya Tayeh from So You Think You Can Dance. Her career and passion for dance led her to curate a cardio, hip hop class for all-levels called Notorious F.I.T., to foster like-minded communities who love health, wellness and pop culture. Jenny showcases her Notorious F.I.T hip hop class at fitness festivals such as, Shape Magazine's annual LA celebrity event, Shape Body Shop, and teaches Master classes around the world. In addition, Jenny is a body-positive health and wellness life coach, and is one of nine women chosen to be a Reebok Ambassador featured in Reebok’s Global #BEMOREHUMAN campaign - celebrating women who are transforming themselves and the world around them. Jenny has been a recipient of a Lululemon Athletica Ambassador Leadership Award, a ZICO Endurance Team Athlete Ambassador, Co-Founder/CEO of SEAK Foundation and creator of The Sports Bra Challenge, and a blogger for Huffington Post.

Charina Lumley, Founding Partner

With an extensive, 18+ year background in integrated sales, marketing and business development for a number of lifestyle and adventure sports brands, Charina has spent her more recent years chasing social entrepreneurship, early-stage start-up ventures, the bike in front of her and her adventuresome seven-year old son. Currently, Charina serves as the Vice President of Brand Strategy for, the Internet's most-visited fitness site and largest online retailer of sports nutrition and wellness products, strength training apparel, and fitness accessories.

Emily Hochman, Community and Entrepreneurship

Emily joins the team as a fitness-enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for all things health and wellness. She brings a strong background in event management, business development and strategic partnerships. Outside of the office, this native New Yorker can be found on her yoga mat or on early morning workouts with her #TheProgram teammates. Emily is committed to honoring a healthy lifestyle and helping those around her live “the sweat life.”


Katie Dalton, Partnerships

Katie Dalton is the Senior Vice President of Audience Rewards, the Official Rewards Program of Broadway & The Arts. Since she joined the company in 2010, Audience Rewards has grown into a powerful sales channel with over 2.3 million members and weekly ticket sales of more than $2 million. Her 15-year career also includes 8 years of marketing and fundraising experience for non-profit arts organizations, including MoMA, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC.

Alyssa Dainack, Creative/Design Director

A native of Erie, PA, Alyssa headed straight to New York City after college to stretch her creative muscles. She has lead (and continues to lead) creative design for large consumer magazines and websites and is currently the Creative Director for Everyday with Rachael Ray. She spends as much time as she can in the West Village, loves a good design blog and takes advantage of a warm beach vacation whenever possible. Her #1 motivation is her 1 1/2 year-old son, Jack, who always keeps her on her toes.

Katie Ellis, PR/Communications/Content Strategist

As senior vice president, communications manager for Wells Fargo Corporate Communications, Katie leads a team and has responsibility for media relations, issues management, crisis communications and executive advocacy for Wells Fargo’s Business Banking, Capital Finance, Commercial Distribution Finance, International and Insurance and divisions. She manages national and global media relations efforts to help enhance and protect the company’s reputation, leading several U.S. and international media tours and PR campaigns. 


Karen Brown, Middle School Curriculum Developer

Karen is a health and wellness teacher and curriculum specialist. She brings over a decade of experience working with students to our team. She believes intentional conversations and caring adults are critically important in supporting girls and young women as they develop their sense of self and self-esteem. Her passion for the outdoors and green living make her feel right at home in San Francisco. She is currently doing consulting work and has a practice coaching students one-on-one in self-regulation and organization skills. 



Stacy DeRosa, Master of Public Health Intern

Stacy has worked as a Registered Dietitian since 2010 and takes a practical, health at every size, approach to nutrition and wellness. She graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Nutrition and Food Science and completed her Dietetic Internship in New York at North Shore LIJ. Stacy is currently working on her Master in Public Health degree with an emphasis on Community Health Education at San Jose State. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children. Her passions include family time, cooking, and basically any outdoor activity.

In Loving Memory: Kelly Hurley, Vice President

From managing flagship SoulCycle studios and running operations for large-scale events in NYC to overseeing teams of 30+, Kelly brings nearly 5 years of leadership experience in the health & fitness industry and 4 years of experience in the non-profit sector.  In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike around the streets of NYC.
