About The Friendship Club:

The Friendship Club engages, educates and empowers girls at risk living in rural Nevada County, CA. The Friendship Club is a unique community-based, grassroots prevention program designed to reach girls from challenging family backgrounds who are at risk for dropping out of school or engaging in unhealthy behaviors.

The Movemeant Grant:

The Friendship Club’s summer enrichment keeps our girls busy, active and learning during their vacation break. This is a critical time for adolescent girls who, without the social support of a positive peer support group and guidance from responsible adults, are vulnerable to going off track and indulging in unhealthy behaviors. The grant funds are used for a unique outdoor adventure with a 3 night, 4 day High Sierra experience.

The Friendship Club hosts the following activities for 25-30 girls: kayaking, swimming, paddle board, yoga, hiking, archery and culturally appropriate body image talks around the campfire at night.  We provide stimulating activities that improve minds and strengthen bodies and empower girls to see themselves as self-sufficient young women in control of their lives, in spite of the adversity they may face on a daily basis.
